Interested in Getting Involved?

You live in Birmingham and love it - show our students that they can, too!

Currently there are over 900 Jewish students at the University of Alabama, and every week approximately 125-150 come together for Shabbat dinners and Sunday brunches.  They connect with their Jewish identity and love getting together and living in Alabama. These are the type of young professionals that we need to grow our Birmingham Jewish community and temple memberships. Their passion stimulated the development of the Hillel Connections program.

We want to show Jewish students across the country that the Birmingham community wants them here!  Please fill out the form below if you'd like to get involved and help our community grow!

Funding is needed to cover living and programming expenses for interns, including apartment rent, Shabbat dinners, Torah study with the rabbis, visits to Vulcan, education at the Civil Rights Institute, and other events.  Please volunteer to provide dinner or an event in your home, to fund housing for a student, or sponsor a student's programming (or share sponsorship with a friend).  Contributions may be sent to the Hillel Connections Fund at the Birmingham Jewish Foundation OR sent directly to program leadership.  Please reach out to hillel.connections@gmail.com for more information.  Thank you for your support!
